Hey, y'all. Yesterday I found a blogging scholarship where I write about what I believe is the most important issue in the upcoming election and blog about it. I made a seperate blog for it but part of the judging is based on public reaction. I would appreciate it immensley if everybody would comment or something. They're especially looking at reaction on Twitter. I've never had a twitter before but I set one up for this despite not really knowing anything about it. PLEASE HELP BY CHECKING OUT THE BLOG AND TWEETING AND RETWEETING THE URL!!!!!!

Pale Pink Vintage
Everybody has that one dress that just makes them coo and swoon every time they put it on. When I was first discovering my love for dresses about two years ago, every new dress I bought would give me this reaction. You'd get it and just love the way it made you feel so much that you'd want to wear it every moment of every day? Well, since my wardrobe has since become almost exclusively dresses, this reaction has been dulled. A new piece is always nice but those wonderful, head-over-heels in love reactions have faded. This dress, however, that I bought at a vintage store Tuesday while taking my brother to buy a vintage tie clip, has brought back the whimsy clothes have the ability to carry. I am ecstatically joyful when I wear it. I just feel so pretty. Its color is so delicate and its shape so classic. I also love the fact that it is just a little see-through, off-setting its otherwise purely innocent appearance. In short, I am in love. In love with an old dress.

New Shoes
For Christmas, one of the things I got was a DSW giftcard and for the first time in my life I walked through the non-clearance section of the store. I bought three pairs of shoes with it, all ended up being on sale anyway. What I am terribly excited for, however, is the fact that I finally got to own a pair (two actually) of Seychelles shoes. I have always admired them imensly from afar, on other bloggers particularly. I am over the moon that I now have my own!

Flippant is the Nature of Man
I absolutely love this little gem of a shirt I bought at Buffalo Exchange my freshman year of High School. Oddly, however, I barely wear it. It is a little small and the pattern is rather hard to encorporate into outfits but it is oh so interesting! I love when it makes appearances like this.

A White Purity
I bought this dress from Chic Wish about a month ago and it has finally come! I am absolutely, head-over-heals in love with this dress. For one, it has a peter pan collar! One of my favorite things on dresses period yet is found so rarely in my wardrobe. Also, I love the silhouette. I don't have any dresses with that kind of double layered, poofy skirt although, at least on this dress, it is very flattering. And then the lace is so beautiful!!! It is my first all white dress and I am terrified I will ruin it through my never ending addiction to clumsiness. Perhaps I will find I can control myself for the sake of this wonderful dress!

Good is Better than Perfect
For some reason I have a personal stigma about wearing tights with skirts below the knee. As much as I wear dresses and try to be modest in my pursuit of style, that tiny little block of clothed calf just has always felt dowdy and rediculous to me. Now that Phoenix is starting to get a little chilly, I find myself in the need of tights on a daily basis and am thus being squeezed out of my below-the-knee skirts. In this outfit, I didn't follow my personal rule but I must say I still don't know how exactly I feel about it.

I am actually quite surprised I do not wear the combination of these shoes and these tights more often. I love the contrast of the big clunky high top converse and the delicate femininity of these lace tights. The tomboyish attitude of the t-shirt and shorts add nicely to the contrast in my opinion.

With Fleece of Pink
The day I wore this outfit I cut and tied fleece into blankets with my school's dance company for underprivledged children and the elderly in nursing homes. Obviously, the dawning of extra strips of fleece was highly prevelant and mine took the form of a little bow. I actually quite like the quirky little look it gives the outfit. Maybe I'll actually starting wearing it as a normal accessory!

Nerd
I have kind of secretly been wanting a pair of prescriptionless glasses for quite a few months now. It seems like such a silly desire; most people would do anything not to have to wear them and my shuning of 20/20 vision is preposterous! Still, the urge nagged and last Sunday I finally found a pair at Buffalo Exchange!

Eyes in Immitation of a Cat
This dress has always reminded me of the uniforms women would wear on the original Star Trek (great show by the way, I am quite the little treckie). Isn't it funny how feminism has changed over the years? When the show first aired, those tight, short dresses were considered the height of feminism. They rebelled against the need to be demure and passive and allowed women to openly display their sexuality at their own whim. Nowadays, such overt displays of rejection of body shame are considered simply "slutty," and, in a way, give the power back to the eyes of the beholder instead of the individual. I must admit, I myself feel a tinge of "sluttiness" in this dress, but it is something I sorely need to get over! It is adorable and I need to wear it more often!

L'Orange
This dress is one of the first and only things I have ever made myself besides simple accessories. There is something undeniably alluring about taking a suggestion of a pattern and making it your own through fastening some cloth together with some thread by jabbing it with a sewing machine. It's such a violent and lovely process! I would very much like to make another dress myself someday but oh, to find the time!

The day I wore this was "ugly sweater day" at my school. While I would highly disagree that this sweater is ugly, the spirit day reminded me of this darling piece of warmth hanging in my closet, beckoning me to cuddle up to it in this chill of December. It's a bit of vintage my mom passed down to me that says "U-Men '86" on it. This mystery of who exactly these U-Men are has perplexed us for the last couple of years since she handed it down to me. I think the most promising google it produced was that it was an 80s band based in Seattle. Ha ha, the mysteries of vintage are certainly one of their best and most charming aspects.
